I hope you like our home
I wanna build you up high like these walls
We can make it our own
Hammering nails so that the roof doesn't fall
It can be hard to start over
Pulling up roots in gardens so far away
It's okay to not know, dear
Sprinkle these seeds and they will blossom someday
And the snow will fall, it will freeze the ground
But this house is warm, and safe and sound
And I know when I'm home, I'm right where I'm supposed to be
With you, and not alone, making all these memories
I hope you like our home
We'll fill it up with the light from our love
The trees out back will all grow
Slowly but surely as if they were us
And the floors will creak, showing signs of age
But they'll hold us up each and every day
Chorus--
Somedays will feel harder than the rest- one thing fixed and two things wrecked. In all this work we do our best, we do our best...

We're all scared, we don't know how to act today
But maybe therein lies the rub, why do we put on this play?
This ain't a stage, we're all real, we need to keep it that way
Your president ain't bringin' your change
Ain't bringin' your change
Let's talk about walls- who are you keeping out?
Have you listened yet to hear just what they're all about?
And how 'bout honor? Why do we sabotage each other?
You don't have to hide your mail from me. You ain't bringin' us change.
We've grown a lot in little time
Important things were left behind
We must reach back, we must press rewind
Erase the moment we all went blind
Here's what I'm saying: no one person is the fix
We've got a lot of healing left, now remember this
We must put down our phones, look each other in the eyes
There's no reason not to love. We are bringing this change.

Tell Everyone You Meet
03:46
|
|||
Tell everyone you meet "I love ya, I love ya."
Try it now, tongue to teeth and teeth to lips
Say it to yourself
Then try again, but aim it at a friend
And watch it as it swells
Don't ever wait to see if it's okay
You hesitate and it might go away...
Tell your dad, your brother, sister, and your mom
But don't leave it at home
Tell the postman and the stranger on the bus
Spread it where you roam
We're told to hold these words for someone great
Well everyone deserves to feel embraced

New Year in Florida
03:52
|
|||
Fly me down to waters warm, and to sunsets long
To escape the winter woes, and to find a song
Slip my skin, dress myself in the shining sun
Embrace the here and now to which I belong
Every time I touch down, the palms are a surprise
I’m spending the new year in Florida
See my dad, shoot the bull, smile a thousand smiles
With my brother on this southbound pull, we could stay awhile
Sent a message to moon on New Years Eve this year
With a flame and a balloon, up in the atmosphere
Every time I get here, the Gulf is a surprise
I'm spending the new year in Florida

I'm still inside my own head
These quicksand struggles haven't done me any good
I'd like to think I want change
I'd like to think I would if I could
I feel like I have no influence on my actions
I'm told that I do but there's no way it's true
I operate on what happened
Living in the present isn't something that I do
All I know is that I don't know anything.
Maybe I'm done pretending that I do.
Socrates was right so long ago.
It took me 23 years to see the truth.
These next lines will be positive
After reading back the first half I sound like I'm sad
That isn't quite the case though
I'm just transitioning; uncovering some things that I have had
So I'll move forward every day now
Trying hard not to look back at my perplexing history
What more can I say now?
Silence would be fine but I have choruses to sing
I wanna do it for my legacy
When my kids are alive I want them loving everything
They don't need to be like me
Not entirely at least, I'll only give them what they need
I'm excited for that future
A nucleus where we can share and never fear scared
[That's] not exactly what I'm used to
I love alot about my youth but we were never perfect there

Stardust
03:16
|
|||
When you can't seem to rest your mind
Your eyes pull hard but you can't unwind
Just look into your soul, see your heart unfold
If you're sad, alone, and full of hurt
Breathe in deep and then convert the painful air to dust, watch it all combust
And you will find dreams behind your eyes
You'll redefine the way you feel inside
Some folks might stand right in your way
You'll swear they want you feeling grey
But they don't mean the harm
Their hearts are just disarmed
Remind yourself from time to time, we all breathe from the same old sky
But some can't stand the rain, their pain is on display
Let's help them find dreams behind their eyes
We'll redefine the way they feel inside
We're stardust, just stardust
So what's the fuss? Remember we're all stardust.

Christmas Tree Infinity
03:06
|
|||
The night arrives so fast, and the cars appear in glass with headlights pressing on the pavement.
The air it gets so cold so quick my fingers frozen like a wick without a flame to fire encase it.
The winter’s got a hold on me, a Christmas tree infinity, a snowflake lands right on my rosy cheek and I begin to feel less cold.
Hang up the lights in the yard, cut down a tree but don’t go far because soon we will be snowbound.
Go to church and listen up, pretend the words are cutting tough claim that it’s Jesus that you have found.
Sing the carols of our past, “Santa Bring My Baby Back,” let it ring throughout the city.
Hear that musak in your head- songs up ‘til now you thought were dead- they’ll resurrect their beauty.
Less cold in the winter is important you know, you could lose all of your sanity inside this hole. And when the cabin fever sets in, I'll be here to see that you win.
